Everything you need to know about e-bike conversion. From motors to manufacturers to batteries.

E-Bike Motors

Which drive type is right for you?

Mid-drive motor E-Bike

Mid-Drive Motor

The mid-drive motor is the most common motor in the e-bike sector and sits in the middle under the bottom bracket. The rear wheel is driven via the chain.

Advantages:

  • Low center of gravity for better control
  • Up to 50% less power consumption at higher speeds
  • Easy wheel change in case of a flat tire
  • Direct, natural riding feel
Rear hub motor E-Bike

Rear Hub Motor

The rear motor is integrated into the hub of the rear wheel. This means the chain and chainrings are not additionally stressed.

Advantages:

  • Increased grip due to more weight at the rear
  • Quiet and silent
  • Sporty riding feel
  • Energy recovery (recuperation) possible
Front hub motor E-Bike

Front Hub Motor

The front motor is integrated into the front hub. This type of drive is comparable to all-wheel drive, as the front wheel pulls and you pedal in the back.

Advantages:

  • Most affordable option
  • Easy installation
  • Coaster brake usually still usable
  • Ideal for flat terrain
